Jim Henson

Jim Henson as many may or may not be aware that he is the creator of Sesame Street. He was born on September 24, 1936 in Greenville, Mississippi. He started out his career by working for this channel WTOP-TV creating puppets. He later went to college wanting to study to become a commercial artist, but instead he was offered a puppetry class, which is then where everything else began. Then in 1969 he was offered to start a new television show called Sesame Street. That is where characters like Oscar the Grouch, Kermit, Cookie Monster, Elmo, and Big Bird where created. After his sucess in Sesame Street, Jim Henson wanted to create another show that would appeal to younger kids so, he created The Muppets which include characters like Miss Piggy, Gonzo the Great, and also Kermit. Some other shows/ movies that he created was Fraggle Rock, Muppet Babies, The Storyteller. Then Jim Henson decided to sell his company to The Walt Disney Company, thnking that that way it could expand and become more creative with all these shows. Which then this ended up with The Muppets at Walt Disney World, Disney's California Adventure, and Jim Henson's Vision 3D. After all his success sadly enough Jim Henson died on May 16, 1990 at the age of 53, due to organ failure.
